FORMANDO VIDAS
I’ve personally known this organization, and the people that run it, for over ten years. They have a heart of gold and are the most sacrificial group of people I know. They also happen to love what they do!
The organization runs in Bogotá, Colombia and their mission is to rescue street children. They give them a home, and an education. But the coolest thing about them is that they truly become a family to these kids, teaching them how to interact with each other, and as a result breaking the cycle of homelessness and family conflict. This is what can happen in the case of orphanages – kids don’t know what a functional family looks like, and when they grow up and have their own children, they don’t know how to deal with that and their own kids end up in the streets.
I absolutely love what they do, and I’ve spent time with them, getting to know the various phases of their organization and seeing first-hand the impact they’re having. They do a ton, so if you want to learn more about their mission, head to their website! You’ll be able to learn everything from the history of Colombia and why there are so many children at risk and on the streets, as well as how the organization itself functions.
